28 Weeks

Merry Christmas!

Pregnancy app is still saying the baby is the size of a papaya and in the weight range of 1.5-2.2 pounds and is 13-15 inches in length.

How far along: 28 weeks
Sickness: None!
Maternity Clothes: Yes and No, I am wearing a maternity SANTA BABY shirt that my sister Melissa got while pregnant with Merrick but then I am in regular jeans.  (note the frontal shot of the santa baby shirt didn't turn out too well)
Stretch Marks: Still the little (not too noticeable) white lines on my back.
Sleep: Pretty good, I am waking up anywhere between 2:00 and 4:00 am and it will take me a few minutes to get comfortable and fall back asleep.  Sometimes I will wake up every hour from 2:00-4:00.  Wonder if this will become the baby's schedule?!
Movement: I feel the baby a lot at night and sometimes in the early morning.
Food Cravings: This isn't food but I have noticed I am thirsty A LOT and just want WATER.  I am also still a fan of yogurt and apples and of course SUGAR!
Symptoms: Still having sciatic pain and then this past week my belly button felt like it was about to rip a part!  My sister Allison told me it was probably my muscles in my stomach starting to separate.  Oh yea!

Holiday News: Clark and Laura drove down from Twin Falls the weekend before Christmas.  We went to lunch on the 22nd to celebrate an EARLY birthday for Laura.  Then that night we had a family dinner up at my Dad and Lorie's and played CHRISTMAS WHEEL OF FORTUNE aka Hangman.  Nick and I spent Christmas Eve with his family and then Christmas Day was what we referred to as 'The Marathon'.  Christmas morning breakfast with Nick's parents, lunch with my mom and sisters, quick stop at my Dad and Lorie's for presents, and then dinner, nativity scene, and jolly merriment at my Grandma Norda's.  Whew!

I am looking forward to next year because we will have a little 9 month old boy crawling around!

27 Weeks

Pregnancy app is still saying the baby is the size of a papaya weighing 1.5 to 2.2 pounds and is 13 to 15 inches in length.  This weeks marks the start of the THIRD trimester.  A little scary when I think of it that way because I feel like I just started the second trimester not too long ago.

How Far Along: 27 weeks, beginning of 3rd trimester
Sickness: Actually last night I didn't sleep very well and when I woke up in the morning I felt really nauseous and like I needed to throw up but couldn't.  I was reminded of the early pregnancy BLAH days but by mid morning I started to feel better and now I am fine.
Maternity Clothes: Yes and No.  Wearing maternity pants in this picture but everything else is regular clothes.  This purple shirt is something I had but didn't wear as much because it seemed to hang all wrong in the belly area and accentuated the six pack abs I DID NOT have.  So, perfect to stretch over the belly I have now!
Stretch Marks: Still think I have little white lines on the love handles, but they aren't that noticeable...thank goodness!
Sleep: Most nights I sleep really well but last night not so much.  I fell asleep around 11:00 but then was up at 1:00 and couldn't get back to sleep until 4:00.  I think I was hungry and after a little snack I fell right back to sleep.  It did take me 3 hours to figure that out though.
Movement: Baby moves every day (thank goodness).  I found out that a friend of mine just lost her baby at 27 weeks and it was so devastating to me.  It also made me extremely paranoid if I didn't feel this little boy kick for awhile.
Food Cravings: Still the same.  Yogurt, apples, pasta, soup, SUGAR!
Symptoms: Still have the lovely sciatic pain...

Holiday News: I am getting so excited for Christmas I feel like a little kid again. I have been listening to Holiday music almost non stop and just feel more in the Christmas spirit than I have in the past.  Maybe I am in nesting mode but I am done Christmas shopping and all my presents are wrapped and ready to go!  This Friday my sister Laura and her husband Clark and their adorable little boy Henry will be here from Twin Falls, ID and on saturday we are having a family party with my Dad and Lorie.  Then Monday (Christmas Eve) starts the 48 hour festivities!

26 Weeks

Unfortunately this week has been a busy one and I never got around to taking a weekly picture.  My work sends out Christmas Baskets every year to customers and vendors so all day Monday and Tuesday were spent being a 'little elf' and delivering these 100+ baskets.  So by the time I got home from work I was exhausted.  Then it was also my work Christmas Party on Friday and guess who was in charge of the Christmas slideshow?  That's right, me!  So I spent some longer nights at the office also coming home late and exhausted and to top all of that off it is finals week so I had to make sure to fit in some time to take my final before the deadline last night at 6:00 pm.
So, since I never posted an ultrasound picture, here is Baby P at 20 weeks.
Sorry if some of you find an ultrasound picture creepy.

How Far Along: 26 weeks
Sickness: None!
Maternity Clothes: Yes and No, wearing mostly my own clothes but will occasionally wear a pair of maternity pants or a shirt.
Stretch Marks: I think I might have a couple little white lines on my side or what I would call my 'love handles'.
Sleep: Still sleeping pretty good.
Movement: Baby is still moving quite a bit.  I feel him more at night when I'm sitting or laying down in bed.
Food Cravings: Still the same...soup, pasta, fruit, yogurt, etc.
Symptoms: Still the annoying sciatic pain. I will be cleaning around the house feeling good and then all of the sudden I will have this shooting pain that is almost paralyzing.  Nick just thinks it is so funny to watch me try and walk, sympathy?  No.

Holiday News:  Work Christmas Baskets are delivered!  Let's just say it was much more difficult to climb in and out of the truck this year.  My work Christmas Party was last night, short and sweet and I am really looking forward to the holidays and being with my family!

25 Weeks

Per the pregnancy app on my phone it is saying the baby from 25-28 weeks is the size of a papaya weighing 1.5 to 2.2 pounds and is anywhere between 13 to 15 inches in length.  I am going to go out on a limb and speculate that our baby (not having tall parents) is probably in the 13 inch range.

How far along: 25 weeks
Sickness: None at all
Maternity Clothes: Yes and No.  I have a couple pairs of maternity pants from my sisters that I will occasionally wear but a few pairs of my pants are still comfortable enough to wear (with the button and zipper completely undone of course)
Stretch Marks: None that I have seen yet
Sleep: Still really good
Movement: The baby is moving more and more in fact this day was a milestone because Nick felt the baby kick for the first time!
Food Cravings: Still about the same, eating apples and yogurt for lunch.  Still like soup and pasta and with the holidays coming up I am getting more than enough sugar.
Symptoms: Still having sciatic pain on and off.  I thought I could pin point things I did that made it worse but I can't, it just randomly comes and goes.

Holiday news:  The Christmas Tree is up and decorated!  I even added a little holiday decoration to our bedroom this year.  I had 3 silver snowflakes I bought from Pier 1 years ago and they just didn't go with the decor of red and gold downstairs so with a little fishing line I hung them above our bed.  Can I just say how great they look with the gray and silver bedding?!  I may not ever take them down!

24 Weeks

I found one website that is saying the baby is the size of a zucchini and is 14 inches long and weighs around 1 1/2 pounds and another website says the baby is the size of an ear of corn.

How far along: 24 weeks (I just realized that means I am 6 months!)
Sickness: None
Maternity Clothes: In this picture I am wearing some GAP maternity jeans that Laura gave me, they are the under the belly panel and I gotta say....quite comfortable.  A little weird at first with not having a button but as of right now no complaints.
Stretch Marks: I think I might have some faint little lines on my side (or love handles as I like to call them).  Hopefully they stay faint and don't spread or invite more.
Sleep: Still sleeping great!
Movement: I will randomly feel some movement during the day, mainly after eating lunch.  Most of the movement comes at night.  I really hope this doesn't mean he sleeps all day and PARTIES all night.
Food Cravings: Still really like apples and have been eating greek yogurt as part of my lunch.

I am going to add Symptoms now as part of my documentation so I can remember the SCIATIC pain!  I have actually had sciatic pain for quite awhile, I'm thinking as early on as 13-15 weeks.  It's not an everyday occurrence, it seems to come if I am moving around a lot like cleaning the house or on my feet for a long period of time.  There have been a few times when I have been moving around a lot and then I will sit or lay down for a minute and when I get up OH MY GOODNESS I feel almost paralyzed and it takes me a minute to get my legs working.  Nick of course just thinks this is hilarious!

In holiday news I am putting the Christmas decorations up little by little.  Our lovely pre-lit tree had some lights not working so we took it in to Anderson Seed to get re-strung.  It should be ready the end of this week.  Maybe I will start documenting the belly bump in front of the tree for the next few weeks.  Also last week I enjoyed a lovely evening at the Cache Valley Civic Ballet's production of The Nutcracker with Katie and Lorie.  I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

23 weeks

Again some websites are sticking with the eggplant size for weeks 22-25, one website said the baby is the size of a green onion.  I am going to say that baby Palmer is around 13 inches long and weighs a little over a pound.

How far along: 23 weeks
Sickness: Not at all
Maternity Clothes: I wore the one maternity shirt last week, the pants and top in this picture are ones I bought in Santa Barbara.  The pants and shirt are a size up from what I would normally wear.
Stretch Marks: Still none...thank goodness
Sleep: Sleeping great...also thank goodness
Movement: I feel most of the baby's kicks at night when I am winding down for the day.
Food Cravings: With this week being Thanksgiving I am craving mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie right now.

And keeping with Thanksgiving I will list a few of the things I am thankful for:

1. My family first and foremost.  I am so thankful to have such a wonderful and  loving family (immediate, extended, and in-laws) and I don't know what I would ever do without my sisters!
2. Nick is included as part of my family but I want to separate him out as my husband.  He has been so supportive with my pregnancy and has made it to all but one of my doctor's appointments.  And even though he is still a little freaked out with becoming a father, I know that he is so excited.  We both are!
3. My health.  I have to say that I am so thankful that I am healthy and was able to get pregnant without any complications.  I have a couple friends who have not been so lucky.
4. I am thankful for my job and I am thankful that Nick has a job although I don't know if I am thankful for the place he works all the time.  But right now I am thankful that we are employed, have a place to live, food to eat, and vehicles to drive.
5. I am thankful to live in the United States and have the freedoms that we do.    I could not imagine living in the middle east where there is constant war and where a 15 year old Pakistani girl is shot for speaking out about the right to an education.

There are many more things that I am thankful for but I will stop with those five.

Happy Thanksgiving!

22 Weeks

Baby Boy Palmer is the size of an eggplant weighing in at a pound and measuring 11-12 inches.  My pregnancy app it is telling me that from 22 weeks to 24 weeks the baby is the size of an eggplant.  On another website the baby is the size of a papaya.  Let's just say the baby is growing shall we?

How far along: 22 weeks
Sickness: None
Maternity clothes: Actually in this picture I am wearing a maternity shirt from GAP that Laura passed along to me after she had Henry.  At first putting it on it DID NOT feel like a maternity shirt at all.  It felt a little small and I thought to myself "no wonder, it did come from skinny minnie Laura".
Stretch marks: None
Sleep: Still sleeping great with the body pillow
Movement: Feeling the baby kick more and more each day.
Food cravings: Still loving fall foods (soup, apple cider, crisp apples, anything pumpkin, cinnamon or fall like)

The name game is starting.  Nick has his favorites and I have mine.

21 weeks

Baby Boy Palmer is the size of a cantaloupe weighing almost 13 oz and is
10 1/2" inches long from crown to heel.

How far along: 21 weeks
Sickness: None
Maternity Clothes: Not yet but I'm sure it will be soon.
Stretch Marks: Still none...thank goodness!
Sleep: Still sleeping great, I have had a few nights where I have only been asleep for 2 hours and I will wake up and it feels like I have slept through the night.  Would be nice if that feeling could continue once the baby is here...
Movement: Still feeling little movements here and there.  The tech who did my ultrasound said my placenta is anterior (front wall of uterus) and so it is probably muffling some of the kicks from the baby.
Food Cravings: I have really been in to fall foods like apple cider, pumpkin bagels, caramel apples, and soup.

I VOTED!

Today is the 2012 presidential election!  President Barack Obama against Governor Mitt Romney.  Nick and I both went this morning before work to cast our vote and we proudly wore our "I voted" stickers.  We will both be glued to the TV for as long as we can to see the results.  As I type this post Romney is ahead (153 vs 143) in the electoral votes.  Obama has won Michigan and Pennsylvania and Ohio and Florida are still out.

20 weeks

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Baby BOY is the size of a MANGO and weighs about 11 oz and is 10 inches from crown to heel.  Apparently at 20 weeks they start measuring from crown to heel instead of rump.

How far along: 20 weeks, halfway there!
Sickness: None
Maternity Clothes: Not yet although I'm getting close.  I have two pairs of pants that probably need to be retired and then a few more that I can ALMOST zip up and are still comfortable.
Stretch Marks: No, thank goodness!
Sleep: I am actually sleeping great.  I do wake up a little in the night but can fall back asleep fast.
Movement: I don't feel any kicking but I will feel pressure and occassionally this weird feeling that I can't describe but I can tell it's movement.
Food Cravings: I still really like having soup but that could also be the cooler weather.  I have craved tuna fish sandwiches a few times but that is a normal craving for me.

I was honestly surprised that it was a boy because so many people told me they thought I would have a girl and how I was feeling seemed similar to how my sister Melissa felt with her little girl Elle.  However during the ultrasound before we knew the sex the technician did a quick profile of the baby with his hands up by his face and thumb in his mouth and I just had a feeling right there that it was going to be a boy.  Nick and I are so excited!

The ultrasound went great.  Baby boy is healthy and everything checked out just fine.  The tech even mentioned a few times that our baby photographed well.  I don't know if that means he will be the next Gerber Baby or he was just cooperative during the ultrasound!

And now starts the war between Nick and I on names. He really likes the name Townes after Townes Van Zandt the guitar player.  He also likes the name Hunter after Hunter S. Thompson the writer.  I am not really on board with either name so this should be interesting.

*Side note about the guitar with the skeleton.  I wanted to pin something on my shirt that signified I was having a boy or a girl so I went out and bought a pink bow for a girl and a guitar for a boy.

19 weeks

Baby is the size of a grapefruit and weighs about 8 oz and is 6 inches long

How far along: 19 weeks
Sickness: No, feeling great!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, I bought a few blousy shirts in Santa Barbara and a pair of jeans in a bigger size.  I call these my 'non-maternity' maternity clothes.
Stretch Marks: None that I can see.
Sleep: Still sleeping great with the body pillow!
Movement: Every so often I will feel some fluttering and pressure against my lower stomach.
Food Cravings: Still don't have any REAL food cravings.  Sometimes things will sound good and other times they won't.  I feel like I have finally gotten more of an appetite back though.

Almost to the HALFWAY point! We find out next week if its a BOY or GIRL!

Santa Barbara

I flew out to Santa Barbar over UEA for a few days so I could spend time with these little nuggets.  Oh yeah, my mom, sister, and brother-in-law were there too.  It was a great 5 days!
Thanks Melissa & Adam!

Here is Elle, I call her my lil' monster or lil' beast because she is very active and definitely has a MIND OF HER OWN!
Merrick made his own race car track in the sand and was having so much fun being "spiderman" and climbing all over the rocks

Merrick, Melissa, my Mom, and I on the pier

This is what they call the "Riviera" of Santa Barbara

Merrick and Elle...two of my favorite lil' nuggets!

18 weeks

Baby is the size of a dragon fruit?!  Have any of you ever had a dragon fruit?  Pretty sure the only dragon fruit I have ever had is from starburst.

How Far Along: 18 weeks
Sickness: NO!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, I just leave my pants completely unzipped and wear my tank tops low thus causing me to constantly pull up my pants after I have been sitting down.
Stretch Marks: No, thank goodness!
Sleep: Sleep is still good
Movement: Yes! I flew to Santa Barbara on the 18th and while I was sitting on the plane I felt something that I think I had actually felt before but I was sitting still and so it was more noticable.  Then while I was with Melissa I felt the same thing again and she confirmed that yes, it was the baby!
Food Cravings: Don't have any strong cravings.  Every once in awhile something like a sandwich from Jimmy John's will sound good.

17 Weeks

Baby is the size of an orange and
weighs roughly 4.9 ounces and is 5 inches long

How far along: 17 weeks
Sickness: Not anymore!  Hooray!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet
Stretch Marks: Not yet...another hooray!
Sleep: Sleeping pretty good with the body pillow...will wake up once to go to the bathroom and sometimes it takes me awhile to fall back asleep.
Movement: Haven't felt anything yet
Food Cravings: No real food cravings, soup usually sounds pretty good along with pasta

16 Weeks

I don't know if it's the white pants with the white tank underneath but my belly looks bigger in this picture that I think it really was.

How far along: 16 weeks
Sickness: Out of the morning sickness, still get a little sick if I haven't eaten for awhile, and threw up once while brushing my teeth.
Maternity Clothes: Still rocking the rubber band trick.
Stretch Marks: None
Sleep: Sleeping pretty good through the night, wake up once sometimes twice to pee.
Movement: Haven't felt any movement.
Food Cravings: Soup has started to sound good.

15 Weeks

Baby is the size of an AVOCADO!  Yum...guacamole one of my favorite things to eat along with chips and salsa.  Nick often wonders if I was really born in the US and not Mexico.

How far along: 15 weeks
Sickness: Just starting to get out of the morning AND evening nausea.
Maternity clothes: Not yet, can't do up pants so rocking the rubber band trick
Stretch Marks: None that I can see
Sleep: I am sleeping pretty good.  I have had a couple night where I wake up and have a hard time falling back to sleep but mostly I am sleeping through the night.  I bought a body pillow at Target 2 weeks ago and I love it!
Movement: I haven't felt any movement.  They say starting at 16 weeks is when you may be able to feel the baby move.
Food Cravings: No food cravings at all!  Food just doesn't sound very good.  I can stomach breads, pastas, soups, and fruit.  Meat is still pretty iffy and vegetables don't sound all that great.  In fact just thinking of making a green smoothie makes me dry heave.  Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be back to having one in the morning.

SURPRISE...we're pregnant!

Nick and I decided it was time to start a little family...well more me than him...so we decided June would be the time and low and behold we are pregnant and due March 18, 2013!

Nick seemed a little nervous at first but quickly got over it when he started announcing our pregnancy at 7 weeks TO THE WORLD!

We had our 1st doctor appointment August 16th with Dr. McCulloch at the Budge Clinic.  She is very nice and gave us our first ultrasound and we heard the heartbeat.  The baby looks like a little peanut!

I am going to track my pregnancy week by week and document the changes along with cravings, sickness, etc.
